Lockitron was the first connected smart lock, drawing more than $4 million dollars in preorders. It was sold in 2018 to Chamberlain Group.

I joined after the crowdfunding campaign and, largely as a result of the team being very small, personally redesigned and re-engineered almost every component including a ground-up gearbox design to increase strength and minimize noise.

I spent a while in China for the manufacturing debugging and QA setup, and have some great “you won’t believe…” war stories.

We successfully shipped several thousand units before my departure.
